FOLLOW UP OF PRIJEDOR ACTIVITIES:

Reintegration of refugees, returnees, IDP-s and domicile population / Theater project – Cooperation with Wolf and Water Theater Company from Great Britain

This project aimed to address problem of (re)integration of people with different nationalities in the society they live in. It was a new approach to this target group, which was not understood as direct and demanding by them, but the approach that smoothly initiated dialogue on issues that we identified, throughout the process, as important for them.It gave us the basis to identify and work on a joint interest of all groups which were involved in the whole project process.

Follow-up activities in 2006 with participants from refugees, returnees, IDPs and domicile population as target groups are organized on the basis of great achievements and potentials for further development of the project implemented in passed two years in Prijedor. Theater techniques were used in a project implementation and project activities facilitated by representatives of Wolf & Water Art Company, UK.

Activities with political structures from Prijedor and Sanski Most

Cooperation between Prijedor and Sanski Most, after the first postwar conference "Prijedor - Sanski Most 1992 -2004 - 2010" that was organized by NDC Banjaluka in December 2004 between the representatives of two municipalities, has become a regular practice and the highest officials of governing structures have agreed that NDC Banjaluka played a major role in realizing this.

JAJCE PROJECT- work on supporting the educational reforms ( focus on project Two schools under one roof ).

UPBRINGING AND EDUCATION FOR HUMAN RIGTHS

Two follow-up seminars were held on 9 - 11.3.2006 in “Dom Penzionera”, Prijedor. Activities of the follow-up are the same as in the case of the Basic seminar. It is 3 full-days long training seminar for 36 participants, primary and secondary school teacher, recruited on regional basis, ethnically and gender balanced that previously participated in the Basic Training Seminar.
In co-operation with "Mali Korak" from Croatia,OSCE Banjaluka and with NDC Banjaluka participants were coming from two towns, one from Republic of Srpska, Prijedor, and one from Federation, Canton 1 Unsko-Sanski, Sanski Most, maintaining cross-boarder co-operation. Seminars were facilitated by trainers from NGO “Mali korak”, Croatia.

BUKA TV shows

According to the newest ratings researches, in the region which is covered by the signal of ATV programme, and that is the whole territory of RS, and partially Croatia and Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, TV Talk show BUKA takes the second place in the genre of political talk shows. This is a great success because this show is the unique in Bosnia and Herzegovina being a completely independent  ane external production ( cooproduction with CID Banjaluka and ATV )
As only TV show in this series dealing with the movie Grbavica, winner of this year’s Berlin Film Festival, we tried to explain the reasons for not screening it in Banjaluka and RS.
Among the others two of the vice – presidents of RS, Mr. Ivan Tomljenovic and Mr. Adil Osmanovic were guests in our show. They discussed about the decision that was brought by Constitutional court of BiH on change of the symbols in both entities.
BUKA also reacted on a decision of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning the refusal of amendments on the Constitution of BiH. This time we were focused on relation between politicians and citizens of BiH and lack of the public dialogue on suggested amendments.
These are just some of the shows that we broadcasted first months. High ratings of the show are clear evidence that there is an interest by the viewers for the topics that we opened and discussed about.

Publication “Literature and reconciliation” and public promotions

After the initiative that was suggested by the Norsk Humanisk academy from Lillehammer that group of writers from the ex Yugoslavia region stays in Norway during the biggest literature festival, a project coordinator of NDC Banjaluka Aleksandar Trifunovic suggested that there should be a publication about it and about the Nansen Dialogue Network mission. The publication “ Literature and reconciliation” was published in January 2006 and includes essays written by all writers who participated in this festival and, at the same time, it serves as a great source of information about the mission and activities of Nansen Network. Public promotion of the publications was held in Banjaluka, Mostar and Sarajevo.

JOINT ACTIVITIES

Public campaign Stop the violence against returnees

Returnees and displaced persons are our most important target groups. During our work with the representatives of this population in B&H we've concluded that besides the fact that there is a high percentage of implemented property laws, only minority decide to stay and live in their prewar homes, even in B&H. One of the causes of this kind of situation has to be found in a various phases of insecurity felt by returnees in their own surroundings in which they lived before the war. Pressure on this population often has forms of political, even physical violence. We've received this information in every town where we organized different activities with returnees. The most disturbing fact is that in spite of all our invitations referred to the representatives of local government, frequently meet with no response to participate in a dialogue with the representatives of returnees. Violence over returnees prolong their agony and most of them even after they had returned, decided to leave their prewar home.
Therefore, Nansen Dialogue Centres from B&H decided to start with '' Stop violence over returnees'' campaign. The aim of this activity is to bring attention to the problems of all the citizens in B&H. '' We are starting this campaign just before the elections, because we believe that newly elected government has to face up to all the problems of this population in their future work. Once again we want to remind all the representatives of government, non-governmental organizations, international organizations in B&H about Annex 7 and article 2 Dayton Peace Agreement:
Article II: Creation of Suitable Conditions for Return
''The Parties undertake to create in their territories the political, economic, and social conditions conducive to the voluntary return and harmonious reintegration of refugees and displaced persons, without preference for any particular group. ''
We're using this opportunity to invite all organizations and individuals who are able to do something in order to improve the status of this population, to bring it about, according to Dayton Peace Agreement and according to tendency of our country towards European integrations, which imply a high level of human rights protection.
