Inter-ethnic dialogue in Prijedor Municipality PDF Print E-mail

On 27th of June, in the framowork of Prijedor activities and marking the International Refugee Day , NDC Banjaluka organized a round table „Inter-ethnic dialogue in Prijedor Municipality“ jointly with Prijedor local administration. The participants were representatives of returnee and refugee organization, Prijedor assembly and representatives of Ministry for refugees and displaced persons as well as represenatives from OSCE office in Banjaluka.

The purpose of this activity was to open space for dialogue and exchange of information on current status of refugees, displaced persons and returnees in Prijedor Municipality, and to adopt recommendations which should enable us to create further activities supporting the solutions and overcoming the problems for these categories.

20th of June is International Refugee Day and this year is dedicated to the protection of refugees who need everyday material, socal and legal help.
There is around 130.000 officially registrated displaced persons in our country .Nearly 7000 of them live in collective centres and they belong to most suffering citizens category in BiH.

The main obstacles for a sustainable return are closely connected with bad economic situation and unsufficient reconciliation between ethnic groups, and this can be proved by high percentage of unemployed citizens from minority population, UNHCR issued.
